How To Get The Most Slices Out Of Your Cake

You’ve been cutting your cake wrong

For years I would slice a party cake into triangular wedges hoping I‘d have enough to go around to my eager guests. It’s what I saw every woman do, so thats what I did too. Well if you have ever wondered how to get perfectly even cake slices and stretch out that cake to feed all those hungry guests, it really is quite simple. Gather a few items before you start….small cutting board, large knife, cake plates, and forks. You really will appreciate this much more efficient method, and in no time you’ll be cutting like a pro!

About one inch from the edge of the cake, make your first horizontal slice down through all that yummy goodness. Take your cutting board and place it directly against that first slice, flipping the cake slice onto the cutting board. Lower it to the table and cut 1-2 inch strips (depends how many mouths you are feeding). This creates columns of cake.  The first and last cuts will be your smallest since they are at the edge of the cake.  Place these slices onto your cake plates and proceed to make all the cuts through the cake using the same technique.

This is the best method if you are serving many guests.  If it’s just a very small group and you want a huge wedge, just go for it and slice into triangular wedges. Pretty easy, right?
